Activa Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) Therapy Michigan Neurology Institute’s fellowship-trained movement disorder specialist advises patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and other movement disorders, providing information about treatment options and who might benefit from Activa Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) Therapy.
How it works The DBS is a surgically implanted neurostimulator, similar to a cardiac pacemaker, designed to deliver electrical stimulation to precisely targeted areas of the brain to manage the disabling symptoms of various movement disorders. Our neurologists oversee complex pharmacological management, programming and adjustment of the stimulation parameters in order to maximize symptom control while at the same time minimizing side effects.
The Activa DBS Therapy enables many patients to have greater control over their movements, essentially helping to "restore their lives."
